Chinese Companies Show Great Interest in Using Dubai-based Jafza as Gateway to the World

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, June 12th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Dubai-based Jafza, the Premier Free Zone in the Middle East has recently conducted a highly-successful roadshow comprising workshops and business seminars in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing, where companies showed great interest in using the Free Zone as their launch-point to the world markets.

The Jafza team, led by Khalid Al Marzooqi, the Senior Manager for Jafza Sales in the Asia-Pacific region, met a number of high-profile Chinese companies which are looking to set up their Middle East base of operations in Jebel Ali Free Zone.

“We place a very high value on the level of expertise, commitment and global scale of the China-based companies operating out of Jebel Ali Free Zone,” Al Marzooqi said.

“For Chinese companies looking for a global reach, the Jebel Ali Free Zone is a world class location, with an unsurpassed logistics infrastructure. It offers access to a market of over 2 billion people in the MENA region,” he added.

Its strategic central location, with the Jebel Ali Port on one end and the Al Maktoum International Airport on the other, makes it the largest customs bonded sea-land-air corridor in the world.

The Free Zone is also located close to the site of the upcoming World Expo 2020. Like Shanghai in 2010, the Dubai Expo will have a positive impact on the economy of the UAE, with the benefits spreading across the MENA region. For businesses in the area, this offers an added advantage.

China, UAE’s second largest trade partner with trade around US$ 19 billion, has been one of the key trade partners since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1984. China is also the largest trading partners of Jafza, with more than 170 Chinese companies currently based in the Free Zone.

Close to 60 percent of China’s total trade passes through the UAE for re-export.

Al Marzooqi also spoke about Economic Zones World, the parent company of Jafza, and its latest offering Matajircom, the world’s first purpose built smart retail hub, with e-commerce tailored regulations and one-stop-shop solutions.

Jafza has also launched an award winning mobile app that lets customers initiate, track and complete more than 160 of Jafza’s services on the go from their mobile phones.

Jafza is planning a major roadshow in China in September.
