Are you a young Arab innovator? Do you have an idea that could impact lives, make waves across the region, and contribute to the ever-growing technological ecosystem beyond?

Stars of Science, Qatar Foundation’s edutainment show, is now accepting applications for Season 12; giving aspiring innovators the opportunity to present their ground-breaking ideas to a jury of renowned field experts. Online applications are open to Arabs all around the world until December 31, 2019.

Interested participants could become part of the impressive alumni community that has been eleven years in the making, contributing to a culture of Arab scientific excellence. More than 130 innovators representing 18 Arab countries have gained invaluable insights and learned crucial lessons during their time on Stars of Science.

Over the past decade, the SOS alumni community has raised over $14 million in crowdfunding, awards, investment, and research grants to refine their inventions and build start-ups around the world.

This year, Ahmad Nabeel and Fouad Maksoud – both contestants on Season 9 – alongside Hassan Albalawi from Season 7, were recognised as members of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Innovators Under 35 list in the MENA region.

About Stars of Science

As the premier innovation show in the Arab world, Stars of Science – the edutainment TV initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF) – empowers Arab innovators to develop technological solutions for their communities, benefitting people’s health and lifestyles, and helping to preserve the environment.

Over a nine-week process, the contestants demonstrate the effectiveness of their solutions in a shared innovation space, competing against time with the support of a team of experienced engineers and product developers. An expert panel of jurors assess and eliminate innovators and their projects every week across several prototyping and testing rounds, until only four finalists remain to compete for a share of $600,000 in seed funding. Jury deliberation and online voting from the public determine the rankings.
