Brigadier Ishaq Mohammed praised the cooperation amongst the GCC traffic departments in the field of traffic safety, through exchanging visits and organizing unified traffic awareness campaigns. He stressed the importance of using the acquired experience in all traffic fields to promote the traffic systems and reduce human and material losses.
Brigadier Ishaq Mohammed briefed the delegation on the efforts undertaken by the directorate to improve the traffic safety indicators, by using the best practices to avoid the human and economic losses caused by accidents. These accidents devastate families, besides the loss in public property and damage to roads and public facilities, he said.
Brigadier Ishaq Mohammed also pointed to the importance of the GCC Traffic Week’s slogan as an invitation of traffic safety to all segments of society, to make the right decision by adhering to the traffic laws and designated speeds on the roads.
The delegation visited the Customer Service Center at the directorate, where they were briefed by Lt. Colonel Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief of the Traffic Control Section, on the services the center provides to auditors in one place to save time. This falls in line with the best standards within the strategy, aimed at developing customer service and upgrading it to best practices. This includes giving priority to disabled people and the elderly, in line with our Islamic customs and values, and providing a specialized service for women.
The Gulf traffic delegation also became acquainted with the projects which support future solutions to build smart cities during their visit to the Traffic and Road Safety Engineering Department at the directorate. They also listened to an explanation presented by Lt. Colonel Dr. Badr Ahmed Al Harithi, Head of the directorate, of the Smart Traffic Systems Center’s work mechanisms, which are connected with many different systems. One system is “Smart Towers,” which will alarm drivers on the highways through changing electronic messages, “catching red light runners,” “traffic safety management,” “analyzing traffic accidents,” “smart traffic awareness,” and “rebuilding traffic accidents” which is used in planning serious traffic accidents and re-imaging them in order to support studies and analyses.
Lt Colonel Dr. Al Harithi also explained that the technical solutions used in the field of traffic safety work to eliminate traffic problems and jams by providing developed methods to manage the traffic flow in a realistic way that leads to its smooth flow. This happens by connecting the center with a set of systems to deal with and address traffic problems, distribute traffic patrols, classify the areas by reports and violations recorded, and identify the areas that need to increase the amount of traffic patrols.
For his part, Major Awad Abdullah Al Qahtani, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, praised the great advancement reached by the MoI in using smart traffic systems on behalf of the delegations. He stressed the importance of exchanging experiences to enhance the collaboration prospects in the field of traffic safety. He pointed out the importance of the unified GCC Traffic Week “Your Decision Determines Your Fate” as an educational message for the members of the society from its various segments to take the right decisions in their commitment of the traffic and driving law.
