MoI and Cisco Global Sign MoU to Develop E-services

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, October 25th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Ministry of Interior and Cisco Global Networks signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under this agreement, the Technical Training Section at the Directorate General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services will become an accredited network service provider and would issue Cisco Global certifications.

The memorandum was signed by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Acting Director General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services at the Ministry of Interior and Rabih Dabboussi, Managing Director of Cisco UAE, on the sidelines of the GITEX exhibition which concluded its activities recently.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi noted that the MoU represents an important addition that will enhance electronic services in all public departments and regional sections of the Ministry of Interior. “The Ministry of Interior will leverage the Cisco networking expertise and training programs through the ‘Cisco Network Academy’ Program. This academy is the world's first academy that grants international networking certificates,” indicated Major General Al Raisi.

For his part, Lt. Colonel Eng. Ahmed Hamid Al Suwaidi, Chief of Technical Training Section at the Directorate General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services, indicated that the MoU will contribute to upgrade electronic services provided by the Ministry of Interior, ensure customers’ satisfaction, and provide the training department with a comprehensive curriculum that include courses, exams and practical applications through Cisco’s website. “Each trainee will have his individual account used for follow-up and conducting tests through the internet. The program targets technical support networks and infrastructure staff members, as well as officers specialized in computer sciences or information technology,” added Lt. Colonel Al Suwaidi.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Yasser Mohammed Al Wahabi, E-Infrastructure Director and a number of officers.

It is noteworthy that Cisco Global is a global leader in providing networks and security IT solutions.
