MoI Launches Phase 2 of TETRA Development Project for Mobile Communication Systems

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, October 7th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched the second phase of Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) development project for mobile communication systems in the Northern Emirates, which serves the police and leaders of the various sectors of the MoI.

Major General Dr.  Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Deputy Director of Electronics and Telecommunications Services, stressed the keenness of the police leadership to utilize the latest technologies in providing premium services to the public, streamlining procedures, saving time and effort, and keeping up with the many fields of cultural growth in the UAE.  

He said, “The MoI aims to provide various services to all sectors of society, and is constantly striving to develop these services to keep pace with the latest international scientific and technological advancements. The MoI also utilizes advanced technologies in various fields of police work in order to elevate the levels of the security services that are provided to the public, which comes as part of the directives of the police leadership as a mainstay of police work and to upgrade security and police work.”

Major General Dr. Al Raisi explained that launching the second phase of the development project of TETRA systems follows the review of surveys, technical studies, construction and engineering projects, and new opportunities for the Federal Government in the Northern Emirates. The second phase aligns with the strategic goals of the ministry and with the quality services of the various sectors and departments the MoI provides to the public; and supports the further achievement of the requirements for prompt and exceptional responses for services.

He also said that the projects serve all sectors of the MoI, including the Police General Headquarters; the Civil Defense Sectors; the Naturalization, Residency and Foreigners Affairs Sectors; and additionally provides premium services to the recently established National Ambulance service.

Colonel Salah Ahmed Mireich, head of the project’s main team, said that the MoI is paying special attention to the development of their services, technologies, and to its citizen staff members. Such attention contributes to the achievement of the vision, message, goals, and values of the ministry and fulfills the requirements of the Federal Government.

He added, “The project is being coordinated with strategic partners and all of the governmental departments, federal and local. Seven work teams have been created with relevant roles, duties, authorizations, and jurisdictions in specific areas to implement the project requirements of the citizen staff of the Electronics and Telecommunications Services Directorate General.”

Colonel Mireich pointed out the role of the female staff members in the various teams, including field team officers and non-commissioned officers, “Our female staff members specialize in both technical and administrative fields, and are holders of Master’s Degrees, international certifications, and are accredited in the fields of quality and excellence.”

Major Salem Abdullah Saqr, Head of the Quality and Occupational Safety team of the project, said that the teams were created on the basis of the ministry’s approved methodologies and policies, and in accordance with the performance quality and excellence standards.

He added that all members of the Quality and Occupational Safety team are holders of international accreditations in quality and excellence, which include the ISO 9001, 14001, 18001; and the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) updated in 2013. They have been assigned, based on the distribution of roles and duties, with monitoring and following-up with the duties entrusted to other teams in order to achieve the goals adopted in the included action plans in feasibility studies, and to achieve the highest levels of occupational safety for all concerned parties in compliance with Environment, Health and Occupational Safety policy at the ministry.
