MoI lecture to raise awareness on the importance of preserving official documents

As a part of the initiative “My Documents, My Responsibility”

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Naturalization, recently launched a new initiative under the theme "My Documents, My Responsibility" at its Abu Dhabi headquarters. Launching the initiative aims to promote communication and sustainable relations with the community to achieve the MoI’s goals and values, notably boosting the public’s trust in the efficiency of services provided to them.

To achieve this goal, the MoI organized a host of outreach lectures about the importance of preserving official documents, at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture. This aims to spread awareness among staff members and promote the culture of preserving the national identity, by emphasizing the importance of official documents in the United Arab Emirates, at the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and culture headquarters.

Elaborating on the details of the initiative, Nawal Al Shuwaihi;, General Directorate of Naturalization, highlighted the importance of maintaining official and unofficial documents, and stressed the need to preserve and protect them against damage or loss; in addition to the key features of the official documents in the UAE.

Al Shuwaihi also gave an overview of the MoI’s applications, and explained the proper ways to access the MoI’s website to learn about the services of Naturalization and Residency sector. She also shed the light on the biometric passports issuance process via the smart applications, and the different types of passports issued by the Ministry of Interior.

Nawal Al Shuwaihi also stressed the importance of preserving personal documents against all types of damage, such as "exposure to high temperature or moisture; damage of electronic chip on the passport; or leaving official documents in the car for for a long and extended period of time". She also emphasized the importance of storing documents in safe and clean places out of children’s reach, and reporting loss of official documents.

The lecturer also discussed the responsibilities and obligations incumbent upon the official documents holder, the reasons for their loss and damage, and the penalties incurred for the loss of the passport as a result of negligence, as well as the appropriate ways and means to avoid official documents loss.

Moreover, she called on Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture’s personnel and their families to leverage the passport e-renewal service via the MoI’s application «UAE-MOI»  for Apple, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows compatible smart phones,  to avail of this service anywhere any time; without the hassle of  visiting the service centers except for special cases that require personal presence.

Toward the end of the lecture, the lecturer Nawal Al Shuwaihi responded to the audience’s questions and queries.

The lecture was attended by Major Ali Awad Al Hassani, Head of the Strategy and Performance Development Section at the General Directorate of Naturalization; Captain Ali Al Hashimi, from the Strategy and Performance Development Section at the Naturalization Department in Abu Dhabi;  Captain Khalifa Hamad Al Darmaki and Fatima Hassan, the Department of Naturalization in Abu Dhabi; Jassim Al Habsi, Projects Manager; Shamsa Al Hamli, and a number of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and culture’s personnel.
