The Police Schools Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) secured first place at the Police Modern Rowing Championship. The Western Region Police Directorate placed second, and the ICT Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations placed third. A total of 12 departments from the Abu Dhabi Police participated in the competition that was organized by the Sports Activities Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Directorate. This championship is part of the sport activities program for the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, and took place at the Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. In his address during the coronation ceremony, Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, stressed the importance of physical and sports activity in developing the sports skills of police officers. “Such participation positively affects the intellectual and mental development of the officers, and additionally contributes to raising the level of their performance in their duties,” said Al Hammadi.
For his part, Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, noted that police work requires knowledge, skill, intelligence and experience. “In a bid to enhance the level of police performance, the police leadership is keen to develop these skills through various methods and practices by organizing such competitions,” he said.
In the individual competition of the Rowing Championship, results are as follows: Omar Al Hammadi from the Police Colleges Department placed first; Mohammed Al Farsi from the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations placed second; and Ali Al Hashimi from the ICT Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations placed third.
In the doubles competition of the Rowing Championship, results are as follows: Aziz Ahmed and Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi from the Western Region Police Directorate placed first; Saud Aziz and Mohammed Jassem from the Capital Police Directorate placed second; and Ibrahim Al Maktoum and Abdullah Shah from the Transport Police Department placed third.
