Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, received the Senior Leaders Certificate from the Harrington Group International Institute (HGI) in the US.
In a meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters, HH met Dr. James Harrington, an international expert and consultant for performance improvement and institutional excellence, and CEO of Harrington Institute in the US. Harrington delivered the Senior Leaders Certificate to HH for the condensed training he underwent in order to exemplify the federal government’s commitment to improving operations across all levels.
His Highness also received a book from James Harrington, which includes an introduction to the Six Sigma management concept and philosophy. Six Sigma tackles the adoption of facts and data necessary for decision making. The book is divided into two parts. The first part covers statistical means, tools, and skills that help in the delicate examination of data and viewpoints in all fields allowing decision makers to make strong decisions based on facts. The second part focuses on the concept of Six Sigma, which concentrates on providing correct services from the initial instance and decreasing inconsistency and inequality when providing services. When properly implemented, the Six Sigma concept is met with the positive consequence of pleasing clients and fulfilling their expectations.
The methodology and philosophy of Six Sigma is established for the continuous improvement over a clear structure. It starts with the senior leaders concludes with the lowest positions in the institution using a color ranking system signified by yellow, green and black belts and Senior Leadership Certificates.
The international expert Dr. James Harrington (born 1929) is an author, architect, and consultant for performance improvement and institutional excellence. Harrington is also considered one of the quality and excellence leaders in this century. He wrote 35 books, which were translated into 10 languages including: Arabic, French, Italian, Korean, Spanish, and Chinese among others.
Harrington developed 10 computer programs related to improving performance in the fields of quality, excellence, and creativity. He also served as president of the American Society for Quality ontrol and president of the International Academy for Quality for many years. He now serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Harrington Institute in the US, which is an international consulting system consisting of three divisions: Management Solutions, Technical Solutions, and the Harrington Academy. He is a member in the Advisory Board of the Quality Magazine which is issued by the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime minister and Minister of Interior.
The celebration was attended by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of the Dubai Police; Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police.
