The Federal Demographic Structure Council (FDSC), headed by Lt. The meeting was attended by Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labor, and Deputy Director of the Federal Demographic Structure Council; Sultan Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Mariam Al Roomi, Minister of Social Affairs; and Rashid Salim Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretariat General of the Federal Demographic Council.

The meeting was attended by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Humaid Al Dir’e, Assistant Secretary General of Strategy and Communication at the council; Dr. Saeed Abdullah, Acting Secretary General of FDSC for Policies; and Dr. Wadha Al Nuaimi, Assistant Secretary General of the Demographics Sector at the council.

The council discussed the results of the work of the subcommittees of the FDSC. For this end, the participants reviewed the visits carried out by the General Secretariat’s work team to the various sub-committees in the seven emirates. Moreover, they discussed the role of these committees in supporting the implementation of the national demographic strategy, taking into account the specific characteristics of each emirate, as well as the main challenges faced by the committees in achieving their objectives and duties.

For his part, Major General Humaid Al Hadidi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Chairman of the Sharjah Subcommittee, delivered a presentation highlighting the activities carried out by the committee, the outcomes of its meetings, and its activities during the current year. Moreover, he shed the light on the main domestic objectives and priorities that support the federal strategy and the main challenges facing the committee in achieving its tasks. Major General Al Hadidi also tackled a number of proposals to improve the work of the committee and its integration in federal and local levels.

During the meeting, the council members examined a number of projects that support the march of the UAE towards a knowledge-based economy and a more balanced demographic structure. The projects are led by national cadres and achieve the targets of the National Agenda 2021. The attendees also discussed the developments pertaining to these projects and the respective roles of the Ministry of Interior in administering the melting pot of nationalities and the Ministry of Labor in improving skill levels and Emiratisation. The meeting also discussed the means of addressing the inconsistencies in the demographic structure through an integrated national plan, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, so as to submit these proposals to the Cabinet for approval. The members also reviewed the progress of the performance indicators of the demographic structure, the targets established for the council, and the achievements accomplished in this regard.
