Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Federal Civil Defense Sector Development Council attended the workshop organized by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development on the Ministry of Interior’s Strategic Approach 2017-2021, which was held at the InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi.
The workshop aims to set forth the strategic approach and priority initiatives pertaining to the Civil Defense Sector at the countrywide level for the next five years “2017-2021”.
Major General Dr. Nasser Al Nuaimi stressed the need to standardize response systems to deal with various incidents faced by the Civil Defense Sector, and to build proactive capabilities that keep pace with the rapid developments taking place in the UAE. He highlighted the importance of harnessing smart systems to enhance the capabilities of Civil Defense entities and personnel in order to enable them to carry out their duties professionally.
For his part, Major General Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Commander-in-Chief of the Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, called upon all stakeholders to work as a team in carrying out their job requirements, each according to his/her respective jurisdiction in order to achieve the desired goals and maintain the leading position of the MoI in general and the Civil Defense sector in particular.
The workshop was attended by Major General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Civil Defense Director General in Dubai, directors general from the Civil Defense at the UAE, heads of departments, and a large number of officers form the Civil Defense sector.
Moreover, Major General Al Marzouqui confirmed that the UAE vision for the year 2021 is to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world in various fields. He also called for further action, innovation, and organization, and to keep pace with the challenges, changes and developments taking place at the regional and international levels in a way that would lead the country confidently into a future of qualitative achievements and stable, secure, and decent life for the future generations.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Abdulrahman Ali Al Mansouri, Head of the Strategy and Performance Development Department at the ministry, reviewed the workshop's agenda, which included three main themes: the output of the leaders’ workshop pertaining to the strategic approach 2017-2021; a discussion of the challenges and strategic issues for the Civil Defense sector; while the third theme tackled the sector’s priorities and initiatives for the next phase.
