With a constant f/2.8 aperture, which offers overwhelming rendering performance for both stills and movies. Nikon crafted the lens by incorporating various lenses that realize high aberration-correction performance with its original and newly developed Short-wavelength Refractive (SR) technology. As such, the lens is able to have high- and specialized-dispersion glass featuring characteristics to greatly refract light with wavelength shorter than that of blue. Highly precise chromatic aberration compensation is realized by controlling short-wavelength light that is difficult to compensate. On top of that, the lens is equipped with superior Vibration Reduction (VR) effect, which is equivalent to a shutter speed 5.5 stops[ii] faster – the top class in the history of NIKKOR lenses.
The lens is also fitted with a multi-focusing system1, axial chromatic aberration is effectively compensated across the shooting range from close distances to infinity, which contributes to delivering sharp resolution with minimal color fringing at the front and rear of the focal plane.
