New research programme unveiled by Boehringer Ingelheim and the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD) invites European diabetes research projects to apply for funding

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Boehringer Ingelheim and EFSD diabetes partnership has opened submissions for diabetes research grant applications from across Europe. In a collaboration which aims to stimulate and accelerate European research in diabetes, the EFSD/Boehringer Ingelheim European Diabetes Research Programmes have dedicated more than 2.5 million euros over three years to support research projects targeting specific areas of interest.

Boehringer Ingelheim today announced that the New Drug Application (NDA) for its investigational oncology compound afatinib* has been accepted for filing and granted Priority Review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The application for afatinib* is currently under review for the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation as detected by an FDA-approved test.
