Run-over Accidents Account for 18% of Total Accidents in 2014

According to statistics announced by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Directorate General of Central Operations of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, the number of run-over accidents during 2014 accounted for 18% of the total number of accidents during the same period. Misjudgment of road users was the main cause of run-over accidents and accounts for 47%; not giving priority to pedestrians 23%; speeding and failure to take road conditions into account 8%; inattention,  6%; and reversing without making sure that the road is clear  6%.

GCC National Attempts to Smuggle
Narcotics
through Al Ghuwaifat Border Post

The Abu Dhabi Police, in coordination with the Dubai Police and Al Ghuwaifat Customs officials, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,075,000 narcotic pills via an operation named “Secret Compartments”, last Thursday evening.  The suspected smuggler, a GCC national, was heading outside the country through the Al Ghuwaifat border post in a 4-wheel vehicle. The vehicle was found to have undergone structural modifications in order to conceal contraband in well-hidden secret compartments.  The compartments were found along the sides of the interior of the vehicle and inside the seat fillings.
