(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) (“Takeda”) notes Shire plc’s (“Shire”) announcement that the Royal Court of Jersey (the “Jersey Court”) has today sanctioned the scheme of arrangement (the “Scheme”) pursuant to which the proposed acquisition of Shire by Takeda (the “Acquisition”) is being implemented.

As previously announced, it is expected that the Scheme will become effective, and that closing of the Acquisition will take place, on January 8, 2019, when a copy of the Jersey Court order is delivered to the registrar of companies in Jersey.
