ADP Provides Safety Awareness for Pilgrims

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, September 14th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Abu Dhabi Police (ADP), through its specialized departments, distributed awareness leaflets regarding the prevention and safety guidelines and tips for pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land to perform the religious duty of Hajj.  Alongside distributing the leaflets, ADP and its respective departments wished every traveler a blessed Hajj pilgrimage and a safe return to the homeland.

On Sunday, the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi took part in the farewell ceremony at the Abu Dhabi International Airport for the official UAE Hajj Mission delegation ahead of their departure to perform the blessed pilgrimage rituals in the Holy Land. The delegation was headed by Dr. Mohammed Matar El Ka’bi, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

During the ceremony, the Media and the Public Relations Section distributed awareness brochures that included a set of safety instructions and tips for the members and pilgrims of the Hajj Mission. Colonel Yusuf Ismail Al Khouri, Deputy Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, and a number of senior officers from the department were present at the farewell ceremony.

The Directorate General urged pilgrims to protect their passports and official documents against damage or loss, and to keep their cash and credit cards in a safe place. The Directorate also called on pilgrims to avoid crowded places to prevent potential risks, and wished that God would accept their good deeds.

As part a of its comprehensive plan to provide the safety of pilgrims during the pilgrimage season this year, the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at the Abu Dhabi Police intensified traffic control on the international Abu Dhabi- Al Ghuwaifat road and provided advice and awareness leaflets. By doing so, the Directorate aims to protect the pilgrims as they head to and from the Holy Land and while they are in the tents set up to receive the pilgrims at the Al Ghuweifat border post.

Major Suhail Sayah Al Mazroui, Chief of the Western Region Traffic Section, urged bus drivers ferrying pilgrims to adhere to the designated legal speeds, to take all necessary precautionary procedures; and to be extremely cautious especially while traveling at night or in the early hours of the morning, where they should always pay attention and reduce speeds.

Additionally, he stressed the need to abide by the traffic law inside the territory of Saudi Arabia and to adhere to the speed limits. Major Al Mazroui additionally urged the drivers to take rest and to stop driving if they feel tired, and to resume their journey after the break in order to avoid traffic accidents that occur due to fatigue and exhaustion that arises after driving for long hours.

For his part, Captain Abdul Rahman Al Ali, Public Relations Branch Manager at the Western Region of the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, indicated that the Western Region Traffic Section is guiding the bus drivers towards the Holy Land and supervising the parking places. “The Section has also converted the entry and exit of trucks heading towards Al Ghuwaifat to other entry points in order to avoid traffic congestion when entering the Holy Land,” he said.

Moreover, he noted that the Abu Dhabi Police has set up signboards to welcome the pilgrims from inside and outside of the country who are heading for the Holy Land to perform the Hajj rituals. ADP will also be distributing tips, gifts and awareness-raising brochures throughout the day for the pilgrims.
