Call for Applications: Mills College Women in Public Service Project Institute

“Women, Water, and the World: How Women Can Solve the Earth’s Water Crisis”

OAKLAND, Calif - Wednesday, September 24th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mills College announces a call for applications for the Women in Public Service Project Institute, which will be held on the Mills campus, in Oakland, California, April 11–20, 2015. The 10-day program will be organized by Mills College in partnership with the US State Department and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars as part of the Women in Public Service Project (WPSP). Up to 30 emerging women leaders will be selected from around the globe through a competitive application process to participate in an intensive, interactive Institute.

The WPSP Institute at Mills College will focus on “Women, Water, and the World: How Women Can Solve the Earth’s Water Crisis.” How women use water, share knowledge, and promote sound management and conservation of water are key issues for our planet’s future and critical issues for women in public service.

Participation at the Mills College Institute is open to emerging women leaders who are already serving in different fields of public service and/or political or elected office, and those who are currently in the NGO sector and aspire to roles in government. Early- to mid-career women who are working to address safe water access, rebuild their communities, expand their public service orientation, and promote sustainable economic livelihoods are invited to apply.

Applicants who are selected to participate in the Institute will be provided with the concrete tools and training necessary to increase the scope, efficacy, and visibility of their work. Institute participants will benefit from a forum for shared learning, peer mentoring, and networking, as well as collaborative development aimed at the challenges of global water issues.

The WPSP seeks to develop emerging women leaders from around the world and is committed to training early- to mid-career women to advance their careers in government and public service as they move their nations forward politically, economically, and socially.

Applications will be accepted through October 10, 2014. Travel and accommodation costs of all selected applicants will be covered by the Institute. The applicant is responsible for visa costs.
