Rimini Street Launches Local Operations and Expands Software Support Capabilities in Japan, Bringing Significant Savings and Improved Servic
LAS VEGAS & TOKYO - Saturday, March 8th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rimini Street, Inc., the leading independent provider of enterprise software maintenance services for SAP AG’s (NYSE:SAP) Business Suite and BusinessObjects software and Oracle Corporation’s (NYSE:ORCL) Siebel, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, E-Business Suite, Oracle Database, Hyperion and Oracle Retail software, today announced that it has launched local operations and expanded its capabilities to deliver its award-winning software support in Japan. The Company has already signed several new clients in Japan since beginning local operations, and had been serving Japanese multinational organizations on a global basis for years. This launch in Japan is part of the Company’s planned expansion of support capabilities for Japanese organizations using SAP and Oracle software. Rimini Street’s significant expansion into the Japanese market was driven by high demand for a choice of software support options for SAP and Oracle products and strong demand by Japanese organizations for the ultra-responsive support and significant cost savings offered by Rimini Street.

Strong Demand Drives Nihon Rimini Street Opening

Nihon Rimini Street, K.K., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rimini Street, opened its local Japanese headquarters in July 2013 in Tokyo’s Nishi Shinjuku District and already supports Japanese multinationals that are benefiting from hundreds of millions of Yen in annual savings compared to vendor software maintenance fees, and benefiting from a more responsive, robust support model.

The Company recently appointed a new executive team for Nihon Rimini Street and is hiring a significant number of local support, development and tax, legal and regulatory research personnel that will integrate with Rimini Street’s existing global workforce of nearly 400 professionals.

The Nihon Rimini Street executive leadership team:

Nihon Rimini Street is led by 20+-year IT industry veteran and country general manager, Mr. Kazuya Ohta. Ohta-san joined Nihon Rimini Street from Sabre Decision Technologies International and reports to Mr. Andrew Powell, Rimini Street’s managing director for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
Mr. Hisamichi Nagamori is a 15-year veteran of the IT industry, and has been appointed vice president of sales for Nihon Rimini Street. Nagamori-san joined Nihon Rimini Street from IBM Japan.
Mr. Tomonori Oku is a 15-year veteran of the IT Industry, and has been appointed vice president of service delivery for Nihon Rimini Street. Oku-san joined Nihon Rimini Street from Qunie, a subsidiary of NTT Data.

"Japanese corporations have been frustrated by the fact that – up until now – their only option was to obtain these critical services at a very expensive price from SAP or Oracle, while North American and European companies have had access to competitive support alternatives for over a decade,” said Ohta-san. "Our significant investment to expand operations locally into the Japanese market was accelerated by strong demand from local Japanese organizations wanting better value and improved service for the money they spend on enterprise software support.”

Rimini Street Leads Independent Enterprise Software Maintenance Industry

Rimini Street estimates that the enterprise software maintenance market in Japan surpasses ¥120 billion per annum for SAP and Oracle products. Yet, many CIOs report disappointment at the high fees and minimal value they receive from vendor maintenance services, saying they are "paying too much for too little” and gaining only minimal value in maintenance services from the vendor, according to survey findings from Constellation Research1. The report also concluded, "Cost savings are an obvious benefit from [third-party maintenance], but improvements in service levels should not be understated2.”

Rimini Street leads the market in delivering proven client value through its premium-level support program which is priced at 50 percent of the annual software maintenance fees currently paid by organizations to SAP or Oracle. Rimini Street also enables its clients to run their current software releases without any required upgrades for at least 10 years and provides support for customizations and Japanese tax, legal and regulatory updates at no additional fee. In addition, Rimini Street clients benefit from a 24x7x365 service model with an assigned Primary Support Engineer (PSE), making it faster and easier for clients to directly engage experienced support engineers within a guaranteed 30 minutes for priority cases.

"Since 2005, we have made it our mission to offer a choice of enterprise software support programs to organizations around the world. Today, we provide an award-winning solution to SAP and Oracle customers who seek improved service features and greater responsiveness at a significant savings compared to the vendor,” said Mr. Seth Ravin, Rimini Street CEO. "Rimini Street is committed to meeting and exceeding the high standards expected by our Japanese clients. We back this commitment with rigorous quality and security processes, and are the first and only independent software maintenance provider to achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality and ISO 27001 certification for information security.”
