The Western Region Police Directorate secured first place at the Abu Dhabi Police’s Road Race Championship. The Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department and the Ports and Airports Security Department ranked second and third respectively. The race started at the Abu Dhabi Corniche and extended to the Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club.
105 participants from 20 departments at Abu Dhabi Police took part in the championship, which is organized by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, represented by the Sports Activity Section. It falls within the framework of the Sports Activities Program at the Abu Dhabi Police GQH for September 2015.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Director General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, stressed that police work requires knowledge, skill, intelligence and experience. “The Police leadership is keen to develop these skills through different means and practices, especially by organizing such competitions in a bid to enhance police performance,” he noted.
In his address during the ceremony organized to reward the winners,, Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, underscored the importance of sports and physical activity in developing the skills of police officers. “Such participations positively affect their mental and intellectual development, and additionally contributes to raising the level of their performance in their duties,” he said.
In the singles’ competition, results were as follows: Talal Al Shehhi from the Western Region Police Directorate ranked first, followed by Mohammed Al Hassani from the Western Region Police Directorate and Saud Al Zaabi from the Operations Department affiliated to the Central Operations Directorate General at the Abu Dhabi who came in second and third place respectively.
