The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police urged members of the public to avail of its set of services offered through the Ministry of Interior’s smart phone application “UAE MOI” and to use the Self-service E-payment Machine (Sahel) to receive the multiple services provided by the machine using modern technology to deliver fast and easy transactions.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, June 13th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Abu Dhabi Police arrested an Afghan worker over the murder of his compatriot in their accommodation in Al Samha in Abu Dhabi. The suspect confessed to stabbing his roommate and slitting his throat with a knife for refusing sexual intercourse with him.

Elaborating on the details of the case, Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, explained that the 22-year old Afghan worker Z.K, slit the throat of his 21-year old compatriot, K.A, and stabbed him to death repeatedly as many as nine times in the neck. The culprit seized the opportunity to be alone with the victim while the other workers were not around.

Abu Dhabi Civil Defense teams managed to put out the fire that broke out at a 22-floor tower under construction on Reem Island on Sunday night. Firefighters were quick to contain the flames before spreading any further; and no injuries were reported in the fire.

According to officials, the central operations room was alerted to the fire at about 11:33 p.m. on Sunday evening. Firefighting units from the Al Madina Fire Station were immediately dispatched to location and started to bring the fire under control, supported by units from Al Bateen and Al Mina Road fire stations and back-up teams from the Rapid Intervention Center at Al Falah.
